United States of America (Press Release) April 5, 2009 --
Having recently published a popular book of poetry and scenes, it was quite a surpise when S.L. Depner's latest book emerged as an illustrated story book for children. After reading Aunt Francy the Ant, however, one quickly finds the same wit and imagination that is so evident in all of Depner's work. And, it seems that this playwright/poet's ability to put so much feeling and thought into few words lends itself nicely to this new craft. In only 24 pages, Depner manages to weave a tale that warms the heart and inspires the mind.
The character Aunt Francy is a sweet, lovable lady who cares for her nephew Freddy very much. Like all good aunts, or good ants, Francy teaches Freddy how to have fun on the play gym and helps him to overcome his fears when encountering the puppy Oscar.
